topimax increases chance of acidity in your body called metabolic acidosis, it lowers bicarb, the "base" of your body, which can also aggravate renal impairment
When you got your bloodwork, did you tell them your current meds? I don't know when you went, but what did they say? I would also taper, lower, or even stop topimax . It might be secondary to the med, so it should resolve

Metabolic acidosis requires monitoring at a clinic/hospital, because it involves various electrolytes. The only thing I can think of that your body can do on its own is hyperventilate, to give off that excess acidic carbon o2, making your body more alkali. sit upright to help your lungs out.

What exactly was your blood gas values when you got checked if it's ok to ask. If it was far from your baseline I would imagine they would tell you something about topimax. Do you have diabetes? if you start breathing faster and having arrythmias, go to ED.
