just curious, do any of your therapists wear perfume? if so, do you like it or does it bother you?
I have had this exact same experience. My T hugs me at the end of every session, so it's happened a few times. One time I left triggered and upset, so the smell of her perfume drove me crazy. I wanted to forget about the session and the fact that I kept smelling it kept me from being able to do that! Most of the time it's comforting though. After one difficult session where I disclosed something huge, it was a reminder all day that I was safe now and not alone. I almost didn't wash my shirt after because it was so grounding. Instead, I admitted to her how helpful it was and instead of thinking it was weird, she offered to hug my blanket for me so it would smell like her perfume.
Thanks for this!
