I've been there. I threw myself into work and school as a way to cope. It helped for a while, but I got very emmotionally numb and I felt like a zombie most of the time. I guess that is only slightly better than feeling depressed. I think too much work, eats away at who you are and you lose a sense of yourself. I hope you can take a few mintues each day to do something that makes you feel happy.
