Wow, I was too busy to log on yesterday and the couch explodes. Oh well, I am too lazy to catch up on the old couch, plus the new couch, so I'll just jump back in here.
It is getting near the end of the year here for school, so I was talking with one of the other assistants in the room and the teacher about maybe having a "graduation" ceremony for the 8th graders and giving the 7th graders something too so they don't feel left out. They both thought it was a good idea, so I was making awards last night.

I made a fun award (i.e. - best athlete, best artist, computer whiz, etc.) for each kid. I also made a citizenship award (i.e. - most helpful, outstanding leadership, awesome attitude, etc.) for each kid. And I made a certificate of completion for each 7th grader and a middle school diploma for each 8th grader. So, each kid can get 3 awards (our class only has 6 kids, so it's not overboard).

I also made a program that I can copy to give to the people that attend the ceremony. We are planning to have it around the 10th of May (since school is out the 22nd).
I thought we should have a "party" (i.e. - social gathering) after the cermony, but the teacher didn't agree to that, but the other assistant did, so we are going to try to "convince" the teacher and persuade her that it is a good idea.
I love the kids. Not in a romantic way, just a appreciation type of way. I love doing things for them. If I don't get a teaching job and have to be an assistant again next year, I hope I can be in the autistic room again. They are so fun to work with.
