I don't know if those you owe can arrange paying over time. But it is worth checking. Then you could have that paid off after a while. And if you don't know how to budget, please do learn. What is scariest when in debt is to start digging into things and see who you owe and how much and stuff, but if you do and if you get a good grip on it, half the fear will disappear. Never ever avoid opening bills and that stuff. Once that happens you are in a downward spiral where you don't want to know. Here, structure is almost everything.

Sometimes jotting down numbers doesn't do it. Before money was just numbers, it was easier to handle, so if you need visual aids like drawing money or using "monopoly" money for planning, don't feel ashamed. Sometimes we need something tangible.
