Granite, I can understand the self-blame as I do it as well. I can see why my parents were the way they were, because I was such a s h i t. At the same time, I can't imagine laying a hand on my child - even at her worst. I would never want to inflict pain on my child...which always leaves me feeling confused and conflicted because I don't give myself as a child the same level of compassion.
