I have seen this happen to others and the only reason it has not happen to me again, is that I have no close human friends. Note, I mentioned close human friends because in real life, I am slightly better at picking nonhuman friends who become more than just pets.

You must have heard of the "users" and the "used." The users can always find a user for their use. The users may have the "Prince" or "Princess" syndrome(I just said Princess syndrome, once and a man got so offended)whereby the person thinks they were born on this earth to be served by others. There is no such thing as a two way street. If such a thing is mentioned, there is a look of denial and surprise with a mouth open.

Just have to think that you have no time to rehabilitate someone with the princess syndrome and cut your losses.
