Swimming is about the only thing I can do that approaches athletic.
A couple of days ago (still on vacation) I ended up in some trouble. We've been trying different beaches. I think the one we were at that day is better suited to surfers than to swimmers. In fact, the Beach Boys mentioned that beach by name in one of their songs, and it's the whole title of a Jan and Dean song. (Wanna play a guessing game as to where I am?

) Anyway, I tried jumping waves as I had done before, but I was barely knee-deep in the water when a really strong one knocked me off my feet. Even on solid ground, if I fall down I can't get back up without help. Add a tide coming in, and shifting sand under me, and I might as well not have had legs. Those waves kept crashing over me, one after the other. It took my husband, my daughter, and some man we don't even know to pull me out from under the water. Thank you, man we don't know!
