You could copy & paste them into a file in your documents or program files and then delete the ones from your desktop.
(or)
You can right click on your desktop and then click on Arrange Desktop Icons and then go to Show Desktop Icon and the icons will be hidden, but they are still there for you to see then when you need one of them - just repeat action you performed to hide then and they will reappear.
