Actually, you got me here. I read the definition and thought WHAT!? I thought intercourse was a separate entity.
Making out has always meant heavy petting, grinding with clothes on, french kissing, necking, those sorts of things.
I can't say I'm a professional dictionary but, this astonishes me.
