It is absolutely possible. It is also possible to choose to return to therapy at a later date if something else comes up that you think therapy can help you with. I have not been in therapy for a while now as I felt I had enough tools to deal with my issues on my own, and I think I will probably return at some point in the future to deal with some other things that I need to address.
There are other options as well - instead of stopping altogether straight away you could stretch out the time between sessions and see how you cope.
