I totally feel it. I have left every job I've ever had. I work hard and am reliable, always get great references, but I feel so boxed in not by the time spent but by the fact I cannot be myself in the least. Do the job AND in effect play a Disney character, without anyone acknowledging the latter. It felt insane. Then there were working conditions that are comfortable for other people but agony for me. 8 years and they get worse, not better. I tried.

And it's not just the corporate world. The environmental science world is rife with ridiculous compromises and "sustainability" fantasies and lies. It boils down to let's make human nonsense sustainable, and not really focus on sustaining the natural world. That comes in a distant third after society and economy. Or is that economy and society. Yes, I think it's the latter.

Still struggling to find a place in this world for me, even though I'm past the half-century mark. Been working with a freely downloadable book someone here linked me to, and I'll link it here again because I am finding it thought provoking:
