I have a friend who cross dresses and he loves calling himself girly. He wears skirts around me and such and I'm totally cool with it. As long as you don't act like anything has changed, you should be perfectly fine. He probably just wants to know that he can share something of this magnitude with you without it putting a barrier between the two of you.
