Well, I was on Haldol for a few months once. I can say that it definitely did what it was supposed to do which was good for me at the time, but once I stabilized I opted for something with more manageable side effects.

It helped me sleep, which practically no pill can do for me so that was good - but it made me very, very, very sleepy. I was a zombie during the day. I can't believe I drove around on that - twice I ran off the road. It messed with my memory and I have very foggy recall of specific events of that time. When I look at pictures from then, I have no recall of those events. I do remember friends, who didn't know I was on any medication, often commented that I was really spaced out - and one asked me flat out once if I was on drugs (recreational) or something (I wasn't).

So, if you need to be knocked on your rear (or in this case, the head) it will surely do that. I'm sure the dose makes a difference in the severity of the side effects. At the very least, it will really, really mellow you out. Put on some groovy music and don't try to operate any heavy machinery
