Lindasy,

I know you are in a really bad place right now and suffering a great deal. I am sorry what happened to you and I hope you are working with someone, a therapist trained in PTSD treatment, who can help and support you, which it sounds like you need the most right now.

As someone else mentioned, trauma is very much like a death. There is the initial trauma of the experience and deep feelings that are painful. It takes time to even begin to cope and function and then there are many stages we go through, sadness, fear, anger, depression, etc, that all bring their own challenges. Neither are something we ever totally get over and we certainly never forget but it takes a lot of time, even years to get to the place where we can begin to shake the hold it has over us and move find a way to go forward.

Medications can also be helpful. A therapist can help diagnose your symptoms so that you can get the right meds for them. They can also recommend a good psychiatrist to prescribe them, the two work hand in hand.

I don't know how anyone does it without help and support, I know I couldn't . I need that from my family and friends, but also need it from a therapist who is able to help me process it and teach me how to deal with it, in a way they cannot.

Best Wishes
