I'm a receptionist in a diabetes education center for a large doctor corporation. I have to cold-call patients that doctors what to have education. Sometimes the doctors have explained it to them, and sometimes not, before I call. Some doctors, the best ones, have their patients call me instead, which is how I think it should be.
But, you know, around here having diabetes means someone will pat you and the head and hold your little hand and say "poor baby can't make their own appointments." So, can you tell I'm a bit bitter about the whole thing?
I also have all the receptionist duties of answering phones, checking in patients. Then the duties of a teaching assistant like making folders for classes, creating handouts, and keeping stock of all the materials. And also the duties of a PR person because I have to make flyers for events and help with scheduling spaces outside the office and helping to build our web site, and surveying the patients on how well we did and then reporting on the results.
So, my job can get really stressful. I hope someday to be out of customer service but I'm not sure how to accomplish that.
