I still haven't figured out what Psychiatry is after 27 yrs and I don't think Psychiatrists have either. I haven't met any Psychiatrist who does "Psychotherapy". Most Psychiatrists hate or are tired of their jobs. They are certainly not interested in prying into your life to analyze your patterns, relationships, etc. so they can diagnose and treat you properly. Seems to me that's one of the best ways to find a correct diagnosis.
I asked my present Doc what meds have worked for him and he told me, "All have worked for me and all haven't worked". I think that sums up the state of Psychiatry pretty well.
