Honestly, as an addict myself, I have to think of my addiction first, then my mental health issues second. Addiction will take me by storm. The last hospital stay I had for mental health I was put on a benzo for sleep. It helped... A LOT, however, when I found out it was a benzo, I had to immediately take myself off of it. It helped with the sleep but I knew my addiction would take that medication and run with it once I got out of the hospital. For my own protection I had to go on a journey of finding another medication that worked as well that wasn't highly addictive.
