Unfortunately it is trial-and-error or success () with hormones and how your own body reacts with them since our chemistries are so different; also in how we tolerate any side effects with them. I don't have any experience with Implanon but a friend also had depo-provera shot intially for 3 mos, then the implant, because she had no side effects and it stopped her periods during this time. I did not have this experience with the depo-provera shot and had to go other routes.
