We used to hook up more in our twenties, and had a tradition of breaking in each room in our house when we bought it, any new piece of furniture that could withstand it, and any vehicle we owned. I was kind of sad when we got a new countertop, the other one saw a lot of fun. I guess we haven't broken the washer and dryer in, but they are front load and stacked on top of each other, so it's probably not happening.
