Sorry, Ive been having trouble trying to meditate recently, I need all the help I can get. Any advice?
Here in NY which is in the USA "meeting" alters doesnt happen in meditation. here meditation is just a relaxation grounding tool. in fact here in NY we are forbidden to have our clients "meet" their alters using meditation...it falls under the category of therapist induced false DID/false alters / false memories in a client..because the client is willfully creating an imaginary version of what they think their alter may be, may look like..

let me explain something.....meditation is just closing your eyes, concentrating on your body or your breathing and relaxing your self.. some people use a word or phrase to help calm their self..anyone mentally disordered or not can do it and in fact do....its also a religion.. its also called buddhism and many other religions too.

meditation visualizations is a controlled version of using your imagination........instead of you daydreaming free style (where ever your thoughts take you) you set a goal.....lower your stress, calm yourself, ..to calm yourself when you feel like you need a cigarette, a drink of alcohol, ....

it can be done while walking, or sitting comfortable..to do it you just think about your breathing and how your body feels and focus on calming your self down.

when its used as a therapy technique to meet your inner child (which is different then having alters /DID) the therapist has you close your eyes do some deep breathing and then tells you to ........imagine .....what your child like feelings would look like if those feelings were a child...asks you to .....visualize what....you looked like as a child....then let yourself feel those child like feelings, then imagine doing something with that child version of you.

some people use past photographs to help them because they may not remember what they looked like as a child. before doing the exercise they look at the photo and talk about any memories associated with that photo then they close their eyes and the therapist goes through the steps of having them imagine that child in the photo is standing or sitting next to them and ask them what they would like to say or do with that imaginary child.

its not used in the literal sense of meeting DID type alters here in NY because it falls into the category of willfully creating false alters/false memories/ false mental disorders due to the fact that visualizing an alter is willfully creating your own image of what you imagine your alter to look like (in essence creating an imaginary friend which is one of the diagnostic criteria that alters can not be the creation of an imaginary friend)

when therapists say they want to know how you meet your alters they are trying to understand whether your alter is a DID type alter or an alter that happens with psychosis and other mental disorders....

meeting an alter with DID is doing things like noticing things like how you are feeling when you are co conscious with an alter, co consciousness in this sense means when you are aware when an alter is in control of your body...are you feeling like this alter does or do you remember what that alter does, can you hear this alter talking to the therapist, finding a toy or drawing with an alters name on it...those kinds of things are called "meeting your alter" here in New York, USA.
Thanks for this!
