Attorney in civil and administrative law. I researched laws, regulations and court opinions. Drafted appellate court opinions for judge to revise and ossie. Wrote new laws and rules affecting health care standards for health care workers and the places where they worked.

I was responsible for the operations of the entire business for about 15 years (I worked there 20 years in total) and was undercut by someone I was responsible for hiring. The horror lasted about 2 years when I offered the ultimatum- one of us had to go. Well, the powers that be said goodbye to me, which wasn't terrible necause I had been affered an excellent position in a mationally known association for senior rights. I worked very well there but got the poorest of assignments way below my ability level and what I was hired to do. When both of my parents got ill, I needed some flexibility. No dice. I was out. I later found this second job was a made up one that would get me to leave the first job. The association that hired me had no intention to keep me. I was offered the choice to be fired or to resign. This was when I hit the wall for the 2nd time (1st time was during law school).

Hospitalized and in therapy. Received ECT. Picked myself up and got a job with another business, this one where I would manage 2professional associations. I was working at least 50-60 hours a week just to catch up. It was really a job needing an assistant, but thete wasn't one, so I just worked more. I was finishing my second year at this job, coming home from a work related event in another state when I totalled my car. I think exhaustion had alot to do with it, but this accident lead to another breakdown and job loss.

I tried again. I was hired for my dream job as the director of governmemt affairs for an association that promptes visibility. Funding and education about a major disease affecting seniors and their families. After a leave to receive multiple courses of ECT treatments during which time I was placed on short term disability. When the disability period expired, the doctor would not release me to go back and the association could no longer hold the position for me.

It has been 5 or 6 years since I have worked. I would go back tomorrow if I could but my skills have eroded, my comprehension is slow, my contacts have shrunk, and my memory has been badly affected by meds and ECT treatments. I think my work life is over amd I miss it. Work was my life. It defined my very existence and has pushed me so far down I doubt I will ever work again.
