I’m with Ster. We are hard on ourselves, cut ourselves no slack, but we are always gentle with others. I can not save my skin at the expense of someone else. Always check with your sponsor, or some other sober and sane alcoholic in recovery before doing an amends.

Sometimes, what we need to do is tell God and another human being not involved in the deal what we did, and just let it go at that.

Always get sober feedback before taking actions like this. Others can see the right course of action before we can quite often.

But now that it is done, the bumpy amends, accept your part in it, and move on. You are hopefully wiser for it. And now you can share that hard earned wisdom with someone else.
