Just an idea: see if there is a meditation/yoga class in the area and try that first. It uses much of the same principles as DBT, and there are DBT workbooks you can purchase as well as an online DBT class that is free that you could try. Maybe try that and see if it may be of help before taking that step. I can supply more info if you'd like.
