Hi jlr,
My teenage daughter was on Paxil for about a year. It really helped her with some social anxiety she developed. She didn't have any side effects that I would consider to be out of the norm. She had a little bit of nausea in the beginning, a few headaches, things like that. But nothing that her Mom or I were overly worried about. Paxil, like most meds, has a few side effects during titration.
But you're definitely doing the right thing by talking to your pdoc about this. It seems a little closed-minded on his pdocs part to say 3-5 years after one visit? As I said, my daughter was only on it for a year, and her pdoc went visit by visit.
I wish you all the best of luck with this, and if you don't mind, could you write us back after your pdoc visit? I'm really interested in hearing what your doc has to say about this. Thanks.
All my best,
Greg
