The "unconditional care" is part of the horrendous nature of this kind of abuse. I do get it. The battle between loving them and validating that you were abused by them is unlike any other thing I've experienced. I can tell you that staying in contact, allowing her to continue to control you for her own ego and power (not actual care) - will only lead to more pain. But I do get the hold that they can have over us, and that it is a process.

If there is anything you should be paranoid about, it's about trusting them. Don't. Please stay away from them. I know it's hard, but your new therapist is correct.
