To be perfectly honest, I don't know what REBT techniques are.
But I would always ask myself "What's the WORST that could happen?" And then I'd try to think it through. Usually the worst that could happen was pretty insignificant in that circumstance.

So that would calm me down where I didn't NEED to cry or be so nervous anymore. It helped me ALOT to get through what I was facing.
MAYBE it will help you too. Just a thought.
