I know what you mean -- but I make it a rule when I meet people and they start making plans for a WHOLE DAY -- I tell them I'm a recovering alcoholic, and if their plans are going to include drinking, I'd better stay home.

I am NOT ashamed of what I am. In fact I am PROUD that I have become sober. It wasn't easy, and even after all these years, sometimes it is STILL hard when I see people having fun drinking and socializing. It makes me wish I could drink SOCIALLY. But I cannot -- and I WILL not.
So I tell people upfront. I have to before I get caught in a bad spot like you did. No way do I want to go thru that.
Perhaps you'd better tell your friend, sweetie. It's better than having that happen again. God bless! Hugs, Lee
