The remarks, behavior, and threats that he has already made are the warning signs. Whether he is "serious" or just bluffing, or mentally unstable, there is definitely a problem there that needs to be addressed, that HE needs to address, and that you need to protect yourself from.

Even threats that he has no intention of going through with are just as serious an indicator that this is an unhealthy relationship for you to be in.
