For ME that kind of thing is normal. And to be honest if I'm "in a mood" I just have to wait it out.

I try not to talk to anyone too much if I can help it. Yes I realize that's entirely not a proactive way of dealing with the problem, that's just how I typically cope so that I can avoid explanations or apologies the next day. (And I'm an introvert by nature... but that's just me.) Literally try to remove yourself from the situation if you can. I mean, this kind of tactic is beneficial to anyone... bipolar or not.
For me it's not something I can actively control or change. If it were I probably wouldn't be here!
