Can one also assume another is assuming, and thus be wrong? Assumptions are often correct. Sometimes what might look like an assumption, is really a well analyzed thought process.
For me, Rhapsody, I try to take what someone says "at face value." That means unless the history is strong with a member (and unwavering) I
try to read just what they posted, and respond to that (not reading into it, nor thinking

they just did that or said that or we just went over that...)

I understand with what YOU said here, and agree:
I try to take what someone says "at face value." - but then again the "at face value" is often left open to another's interpretation (which can also be wrong - with what was actually meant, trying to be expressed), hence leaving the wrong assumption in which I am speaking of.
.... I am just trying to say that we should not assume that we know what the other person is trying to say (express, no matter how poorly it may have been presented), therefore, we make an unfounded assumption of the matter and of the person based on our personal interpretation of words, and not theirs.

P.S.
I guess I am witting this (posting it) for I have been at the wrong end of assumptions one to many times.... and I am personally a little feed up (sick to my stomach) with people that do not really knowing the real ME thinking and assuming things about me and my life that are not true.... therefore I am unfairly judged, condemned by another's interpretation.
... sharing as to help others not to make the same mistakes that have hurt / wounded me.... left me feeling unsafe at times.
... I am releasing as not to leave a wound unattended, therefore, it never heals.
