I'm sorry Jan, I know what you mean. I used to live in Terry right on the New River. It was beautiful and peaceful. The neighbors would say hello, and after a rain the river would roar, and would peacefully put me to sleep. I'll admit, I hated the bees and that enormous mountian into town, but the beauty was worth every bit of it. The air was fresh, the people were clean and respectful, and leaving the doors unlocked was appreciated. I loved fall the most, watching the million of yellow leaved flowing down the river. I miss the smells. Everything.

I moved to Sophia in an attempt to get financially figured out, and instead we moved into a loud, vulgar, trashed complex filled with the dirtiest, drug addicted people you'd ever meet. Instead of a friendly hello it is "can I have a cigarette, or a ride"...constantly. The trees are filled with shoes and trash, smells of trash from the dumpster, and the doors are locked...even when we are home. The shades drawn, the constant avoiding game. Plus the trash and litter everywhere...kills a spirit.

I know how you feel, the city can be a ugly place..yet convenient. Home is where you feel most at peace, and although I was not born and raised in Terry, it felt like home.

Don't worry, with time you'll adapt to the city. I recommend making frequent visits to the country to transition the spirit.

(((((((Jan)))))))) it's okay.
