This is "The Lemon Thing": squeeze 2 lemons into about 6 oz. of purified water; drink it. If you aren't better in 4 hours, repeat the process. That should improve your calmness inside very much. It may take one or two days of treatment, so give it that much of your time, please, for better feeling tone if it's going to work for you. Then, after that period, use it only occasionally as you feel the need to keep things calm within your being.
The theory behind this and why it works is this: body tissues and fluids build
up so much acidic conditions caused by our diets, and medications contribute to that because they all (including over-the-counter ones) leave an acidic ash (or residue) that the kidneys must eliminate for us. When we take medications 7 days per week, the kidneys can get an overload of acid to manage, and the lemon rectifies that by lowering the acid content of fluids and organs.
While the lemon is a citric acid fruit and tastes very bitter (as acids do) it is digested as one of the most alkaline foods we can ingest. It helps to keep the tissues, fluids, and organs slightly more on an alkaline side, which is a most desirable condition for those components of the system. The lemon is also excellent at detoxifying the liver.
This is not the same thing as maintaining a very narrow range of Ph for the system. That is controlled by the brain and alters only a minuscule amount no matter what we do. The fluids, tissues, and organs are another thing altogether.
In actuality, I believe the lime is more alkaline than the lemon, but I just prefer the lemon. Use whichever you feel more comfortable with if you want to try something to improve feeling tone by way of calmness.
Give it a couple of days to do its thing before you abandon the effort. It does work for some of us. There is no guarantee that it will work for you, but chances are it might if you have high acidity levels.
The following foods are high in acidic residue:
Milled grains (white flour)
All cheese
All milk products
Chocolate
Coffee
Tea and many others

create acids and which ones help to increase alkalinity of tissues and fluids.
Hope this helps. It should relieve acid conditions. Some use Alkaseltzer, and it might
help with acidic buildup, but it doesn't provide the detoxifying characteristics for the liver
and it is precluded for anyone with high blood pressure. The lemon won't affect that
condition, to my knowledge.
