What tends to be your biggest obstacles when you're depressed?

I tend to do a lot of self-correction "YOU'RE AN IDIOT!" "No you aren't. Your brain is an idiot but you aren't." "YOU'RE UGLY AND WORTHLESS!" "My students disagree with you brain!"

I tend to set myself mini-goals when in the middle of a depression. "Today you ARE going to shower!' "Today you are going to wash those dishes NO MATTER WHAT!" "Today you are going to visit with one person." "Today you've done all those chores you needed to do... so you can veg out for the rest of the day and do nothing at all".

I message friends that I miss, and while I might not talk too much about myself, I'll ask them about their own lives and whatnot. It makes me feel less alone.
