THIS may be your problem in a nutshell.
How is anyone to take the written word at face value EXCEPT how it was presented?

... How something is presented, even when done correctly, will not always be how the reader / listener will actually interpret it.

We really do need to think (and reread) twice, sometimes more, when we speak but especially when we write our communications since in writing, we don't have the advantage of people hearing our inflections or seeing the expression on our face.

That is very much TRUE.... but then again one can try to explain what they really meant and yet the person that has already perceived it another way does not always take the corrected explanation as the truth.

Each of us is responsible for the words we speak and how we speak them. We can't expect others, much less give THEM the responsibility of interpreting those words like WE meant them.

... IMO - most people do not give the responsibility of interpreting their words (written or stated) onto another..... some people just out right take the responsibility upon themselves to re-interpret the meaning without asking to verify the meaning before they assume, no matter how clear the message may have been to the many others that read it.
