Well, I know she wasn't insane or hostile, but I also remember them squeezing lemon juice into their eyes when they were out of boric acid!! Now
that was freakin' painful!!
I guess I'm just freaking that they could have gotten themselves really sick or lost their eyesight... and also "reeeeeely" glad that I didn't pick up the habit!

LOL I always thought boric acid was a medicine! But I guess like any other medicine it can also be a poison as the crossbones and skull depict. Wonder if they appeared on the packaging way back then?
Guess what my dear mom also almost did one time? She was out of laurel leaves and just about went out to the front yard and picked a couple leaves off the oleander bush! (It's called Laurel in Spanish) She would have surely killed us! Maybe we did have a guardian angel among us as hard as it is for me to believe. I should be thankful instead of freaking, eh?
