Any psychaitrist that - I - have ever talked to has always talked with - ME - alone. - MY - therapists were/are able to accompany ME but must wait in the lobby during th e session. unless the appointment is specifically set up between the therapist and psychiatrist as a joint session -I - have always had to talk to the psychiatrist alone. For any therapy agency - I - have ever been with this has just been the way it is done when a client has both a psychiatrist and a therapist. They do this because they work with clients to achieve independance not dependance on a treatment professional.
what you can do is during your next therapy session talk with your therapist and ask her to set up a joint appointment for both the therapist and the psychiatrist and you to attend. But they will also want to know why you need a joint session -
some reasons when a therapist and psychiatrist will hold a jointed session with a client - conflict resolution of and for the treatment plans, one or the other is leaving the case, transitioning to a new psychiatrist and or therapist,
