Although we ask for gender upon registration, it's an optional field and not one we normally display. While I agree some people would prefer to know the gender of the person they're interacting with, we feel that's personal information that is up to each individual to decide whether to share with others.

So when in doubt, you could always ask in a PM, and if the person feels comfortable sharing that information, they could reply.
