That's horrible to be treated like that on the phone. I do understand that they are working on commision/percentage but they should also be thinking about the best way to get their money.

Most collectors are very happy once you are back on your feet enough to offer them something, ten bucks a month, five bucks a month... whatever. Say at some point in the future you felt you would be able to do that. Would you call these people back and set up scheduled payments? Or would you call someone who was firm, but not rude when discussing this.

I think that people like the one's you spoke to today are shooting themselves in the foot. I think you're more likely to just stop answering their calls altogether, since you know it is going to be a stressful, unpleasant experience to talk to them.

Anyway good luck and try not to let this idiot on the phone get to you for too long.
