Free T4 is normal.
TSH is High (==> low level of the thyroid hormone)
TSH 5.37 Normal range=(0.34 - 4.82) uIU/mL H
The endocrinologist does not know if Lithium can cause damage that lasts beyond the time Lithium is taken.
Has anybody had that experience?

i am female, 66, bp2, and have been on lithium for more than 35 years. i have had some great drs. in the past who have told me that lithium definitely affects the thyroid (have been on thyroid meds for as long as i can remember) and also lithium has affected my parathyroids...had to have most of them removed w/just a small portion of the parathyroid remaining. have tried other mood stabilizers but for me, in spite of the health issues associated w/lithium, i will be on it til the day i die.
