However, Babs, I believe that Zoloft is similar to Prozac and Paxil which are actually raising your Dopamine level artificially without any chance for re-uptake ( Dopamine replenishings itself naturally). Of course, I am NOT a pdoc, but your anxiety during the day could be like your on a amphetamine and at night you are coming down from it.
Regarding that you still feel depressed (recently people on prozac and paxil have told me this) that a tolerance is built up although I know your pdoc has increased your dosage.
Another possiblilty is did you for a day or two go off the Zoloft; that as we all know will cause a crash (like a cocaine addict trying to withdraw.) Additionally, I'm surprised that you are on Zoloft; Bi-polars are not to be treated normally with anti-depessants ((perhaps Wellbutrin and other exceptions if the anti-manics aren't helping the depression ) because they can cause us to go into a manic episode. Although, yes, Zoloft is given for anxiety but not to make you have more of it. Lithium is an anti-manic and I've been told by my pdocs when I go off of it in the Spring (high time for depression and suicide, especially May) that the Lithium will help somewhat with the depression. I have a hard time with that. Maureen
