We do not have anyone that could care for him while I am gone, so I have no idea what we would do. Any thoughts or opinions on this? Are there other options besides going inpatient?

I'm not sure that the hospital would be a relaxing break....how about a vacation instead? If you have to arrange for care for your H for a week I'd go with the vacation. Has your T got experience with inpatient? My roommate when we first met lifted up her shirt to show me scars where she was supposedly cut open and put up on the table and violated....a lot of the people in the hospital are out of touch with reality in addition to those in for depression and anxiety. I changed roommates twice in one night, the second on was afraid of me so I ended up in a single room. IMO you should not go unless you are a danger to yourself(or others). It's not pleasant.
