I can't answer this because I have no idea whether any RL people think my behaviour is any different. But I notice lasting changes after psychodynamic therapy, which is the only mode I have tried. (I have also been in psychodynamic therapy that did not do anything for me.)
Bibliotherapy - yes, well, as self-therapy, definitely. I model a lot of my behaviour on books. I also journal, for myself only, which helps.
