I chose OTHER (please enlighten me).

The correct diagnosis helped me more than anything else.

I was misdiagnosed with a personality disorder. After that, therapy was useless, because it was influenced by that very wrong diagnosis. My problems were explained based on it. The problem with that was, I did not have those apparent problems. Everything was assumed and not even verified. Therapy ended up being traumatic and a waste of time. Eventually, I left out of hurt and frustration.

Sixteen years, later I was properly diagnosed. After that, I decided to return to therapy. The right diagnosis permitted me to bond and form a therapeutic alliance with my psychiatrist. Now, I am actually responding. Others have noticed it, too.
Thanks for this!
