When there are questions and procedures I don't like (drug testing, for example) I look for places to apply that don't ask those questions or have those procedures, usually smaller/independent places. Volunteering or otherwise getting to know people in particular job situations can be helpful too as in the future they can often help with getting a job, no matter what's on the formal application form. Once one has some good experience in a field, some of those questions become less meaningful. In healthcare they often have to ask a lot of intrusive questions like that because other people's lives may be in your hands, etc. and if you have a problem that could cause problems for those you are caring for, even just in consistency/absences, etc., that's not good?
