I'm guilty of blocking emotions as well. It's a learned behavior and protective mechanism which works short term but is not good long term. It is hard to find those suppressed emotions but I believe that it is something that can be done. It all starts with awareness of what we are feeling. There are so many emotions; some negative some positive, that combine together and give rise to other stronger emotions. For example you get angry because of a traffic jam but before the anger there are feelings of frustration, anxiety, and perhaps even fear if you are running late for something. Mostly we are not conscious of these emotions and that is what the problem is. Being aware of how you feel and acknowledging each emotion helps us to deal more effectively with them. I am speaking as if I am an expert but I am far from it as I have only just begun trying to acknowledge how I feel. It's not easy. Good Luck.
