i can see where both of you are coming from. he has his own issues but i can see that you have your own as well. the fact that he's become abusive should be plenty of reason for you to end it, no questions asked. it's your decision entirely, but i think the two of you should cut your ties and move on. in this case, a friendship would not be a good idea.
