I take 8 mg of xanax a day. My doc says the addictive properties aren't important since it's the only thing that helps me. Alot of people are addicted by prescription. People with chronic pain aren't normally denied meds because of the risk of addiction, nor should those who suffer from panic be. Of course, I'm filing for disability & pretty much can't function in normal society, so I could be wrong. I also take paxil & nortriptelyne for sleep. Good luck to you.
