Hopefully your sessions with the T are helpful to you. I would think the main goal right now would be working on triggers and establishing goals to help with your ED which in turn will lessen some of the anxiety and mood issues.

I agree with all of the above. I really would double-check with the pdoc as to what he meant about placebo effect, not because it's offensive (or not) but because it just doesn't make logical sense. But if it turns out to be what you think, then he is quite a crackpot. Do you know anything about his credentials?
As Christina, I think therapy can be hugely helpful to you. Perhaps medication will help at some point (I think now you're tapering off the old meds per your pdoc's recommendation?) but the medication itself seems to cause you a great deal of anxiety and further muddy the waters as to what is going on with you. A good therapist can do wonders, I wish you the best.
