What is you're reason for not telling anyone though? Are you afraid, or embarrassed? What's most important is YOUR safety and I'm sure your loved ones will stick by you every step of the way if you would just let them in on what's going on. I'm sure that you are aware of the dangers of not eating or purging. (Rotting teeth, acne, dark circles under eyes, weight GAIN, burning digestive tract, acid reflex disease, heart attack, and even death) Know that the people around you are NOT there to judge you. Especially the professionals, they are they to help you and encourage you to overcome your disorder. The first step to getting better is admitting that you have a problem with it.
I am a recovered bulimic and in my experience, my family finding out about it was the best thing that ever happened. They helped me and supported me every step of the way. I talked to a counselor to try to find the cause of my severe self-esteem issues.
The most important thing to remember is that the majority of people with eating disorders are infact UNDER weight but they suffer from a illusion that makes them believe that they are a lot more over weight than they really are. What is more important to you?? Finding a man you will love you even if you are a few pounds above average, but healthy, or being tiny and thin, and finding a guy that wants to be with you mainly because of that? I hope that you open up and recover well. <3 <3 <3
